Shirdi (Maharashtra) [India], January 12 (ANI): Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a scathing attack on Nationalist Congress Party (SCP) supremo Sharad Pawar and Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday, saying that the people of Maharashtra ended the politics of “betrayal” and “backstabbing” in the last assembly elections.
The Home Minister, during his address at the party’s state convention in Shirdi, slammed three-time Maharashtra CM Sharad Pawar for his “daga-phatka” (back-stabbing) politics, alleging that this has been his strategy since 1978. Shah also attacked former CM Uddhav Thackeray for “leaving” the ideology and principles of his father, Balasaheb Thackeray.
“The politics of ‘daga-phatka’ that Sharad Pawar had been doing since 1978, the victory in Maharashtra (by you people) has buried it 20 feet under the ground. Uddhav Thackeray had betrayed us, he left his ideology, he left the principles of Balasaheb Thackeray and became the Chief Minister in 2019 by using lies and deceit, you have shown Thackeray his place,” he said at ‘Shirdi Maha Adhiveshan’.
Shah described the huge victory by the ‘Mahayuti’ alliance in Maharashtra, as a “milestone” that put the country’s politics “back on track”. He also praised BJP workers for their role in achieving this decisive mandate.
“Maharashtra’s grand victory has brought the country’s politics back on track. The architects of this success are BJP workers. I salute all of you and thank the people of Maharashtra on behalf of the BJP. This victory is a hard slap on the face of those who engage in family politics,” Shah said while addressing the state party leaders.
“We all know that the basis of our party’s work is organization. The foundation of our winning elections is our strong organization. Our warrior at the booth is our commander,” he added.
He further affirmed that the people’s verdict clearly shows that people accept Eknath Shinde’s p[arty as the “real Shiv Sena” and Ajit Pawar’s party as the “real NCP”.
“The people of Maharashtra have done the job of keeping Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray, who started the politics of deception and betrayal, at home,” Shah added.
He further extended his critique to the INDIA bloc, claiming that the alliance is already completely “disintegrated”, mentioning that the alliance is not going to fight together in Delhi polls (AAP-Congress), neither in the Mumbai municipal elections.
“Today the INDIA alliance has completely disintegrated. Mumbai is going to have elections and Shiv Sena (UBT) and Congress are preparing to contest alone. Just like you gave us a grand victory in Maharashtra, in the same way, on February 8, 2025, the BJP government is going to be formed in Delhi. 2024 ended with victory of Maharashtra and 2025 will begin with BJP’s Delhi Victory,” the minister said.
Continuing his address, he expressed his aim of seeing the party’s flag from the “Panchayat to Parliament.”
He added, “I want to tell my workers that the chain of development is possible only when you wave the saffron flag from the Panchayat to the Parliament. BJP from the Panchayat to the Parliament, BJP in Maharashtra and BJP in the country.”
Supporting his goal, he said that the party has successfully fulfilled their promises, such as revoking Article 370, providing houses to the poor, health, water and electricity facilities to people too.
Shah said, “It is the tradition of BJP that we do what we say. We have fulfilled countless promises… whether it is building the Ram temple in Ayodhya, whether it is removing Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, whether it is about providing houses to 4 crore poor people, whether it is about providing electricity, water or health security… we have fulfilled all the promises.”
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari also attended the convention, in which he expressed confidence in the leaders getting a direction to fulfil the agenda of the party in the state.
BJP state president Chandrashekhar Bawankule said the two-day convention was attended by around 15,000 people, with various officials, MLAs and state ministers present. (ANI)
