New Delhi [India], January 13 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shehzad Poonawalla on Monday launched a scathing attack on the Congress-led INDIA alliance saying that the alliance was based on the ‘situation’.
Sharpening his attacks, Poonawalla said that the INDIA alliance parties have come together only for ‘photo’ and they lack in leadership, policy or intention.
Speaking to ANI, BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla said, “…INDI alliance was an alliance based on the situation…MVA (Maha Vikas Aghadi) has now become ‘Maha Vibhajan Aghadi’… AAP and Congress also parted ways in Delhi. TMC and Congress were also not together in Bengal… In Uttar Pradesh also Samajwadi Party refused to give seats to Congress…During Delhi Assembly elections, SP, TMC and everyone supported AAP… This shows that INDI alliance came together for photo but they did not have leader, policy or intention…”
This comes after major developments in Indian politics. The national capital Delhi is heading towards the legislative assembly elections, where INDIA allies Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) are contesting elections separately. However, these two parties had contested 2024 Lok Sabha elections together.
On January 11, in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) MP Sanjay Raut announced that his party would be contesting the Mumbai municipal corporations without having an alliance with Congress.
On Sunday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah further criticised the INDIA bloc parties, saying that their alliance has now disintegrated.
“Today the INDI alliance has completely disintegrated. Mumbai is going to have elections and Shivsena UBT and Congress are preparing to contest alone. Just like you gave us a grand victory in Maharashtra, in the same way, on February 8, 2025, the BJP government is going to be formed in Delhi. 2024 ended with victory of Maharashtra and 2025 will begin with BJP’s Delhi Victory,” the minister said while addressing state party leaders and workers at the conclusion of the party’s state convention, the ‘Shirdi Maha Adhiveshan’ in Shirdi town.
Meanwhile, earlier today, the Congress party attacked the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) over governance and Delhi Chief Minister Atishi’s newly launched ‘crowdfunding campaign’, weeks before the assembly polls scheduled for February 5.
Taking to X, Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit shared a video of AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal where a woman is asking him “What have you done for us? Everything has been done by the Congress.”
Sharing the video of the AAP chief where a woman is asking him what he had done for them, Dikshit slammed the “two-time Chief Minister” and accused him of “running away from the public.”
The Congress leader wrote on X, “What could be more shameful than a two-time Chief Minister having to run away from the public hiding his face.”
The Delhi assembly polls will be held in a single phase on February 5 and the counting of votes will take place on February 8. (ANI)
