New Delhi [India], December 23 (ANI): Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) DIG (Ops) Shrikant Kishore on Monday stated that there was “no lapse” on the part of the CISF regarding the December 19 clash outside Makar Dwar in Parliament, adding that “no weapons were allowed inside.”
“There was no lapse on the part of CISF. If by lapse, you mean that weapons were allowed inside–no weapons were allowed. If Honourable members make allegations, we remain silent,” DIG Kishore said during a press conference.
On December 19, Rahul Gandhi and other MPs from the INDIA alliance staged protests in the Parliament complex, demanding an apology and resignation from the Union Home Minister over his remarks about former law minister BR Ambedkar.
During the scuffle in the Parliament premises, two BJP MPs, Pratap Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput, sustained head injuries.
Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge alleged that he was pushed during the protests, while Congress leaders condemned the FIR registered against Rahul Gandhi, describing it as a diversionary tactic to shift focus from the Union Home Minister’s remarks.
Pratap Sarangi alleged that he was injured after Rahul Gandhi pushed another MP, who then fell on him. Sarangi claimed he was standing near the stairs when the MP’s fall caused a head injury.
Both the BJP and the Congress have accused each other of misconduct. An FIR was filed against Rahul Gandhi by Delhi Police, citing various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 109 (abetment), 115 (abetment of an offence punishable with death or life imprisonment), 117 (abetment involving more than ten persons), 125 (endangering life or personal safety), 131 (use of criminal force), 351 (criminal intimidation), and 3(5) (common intention).
The winter session of Parliament concluded on December 20, with both Houses adjourned sine die amid uproarious scenes. (ANI)
